How We Rate - 100 Point System
Transparent, data-driven, based on how real Americans use credit cards.
OUR PROMISE
We are not a bank. We do not sell credit cards. We are an independent comparison service. Our ratings are based on math, not on which bank pays us more. We may earn a commission, but that never influences our star ratings.
At USA FINANCE PRO, we know that choosing a credit card in the USA is a big financial decision. To help you, we have developed a transparent, data-driven rating system based on how real Americans actually use credit cards.
Our 100-Point Scoring System - 5 Core Factors
Every credit card, loan, and financial product is scored out of 100 points. We evaluate 5 key areas:
How We Rate Each Category - USA Specific
CASH BACK
Cash Back Credit Cards
We prioritize flat-rate value and bonus categories Americans use most: groceries, gas, dining, Amazon. A 2% flat card like Wells Fargo Active Cash scores higher for simplicity, while tiered cards like Chase Freedom Unlimited score higher for max value.
TRAVEL
Travel Credit Cards
We value points at 1.5 to 2.2 cents based on actual transfer redemptions (Hyatt, United). A $95 fee card like Chase Sapphire Preferred can beat $0 fee if insurance + transfers save $300+/year. For luxury like Amex Platinum ($895), we subtract only credits 70% of users can easily use.
0% APR
Balance Transfer & 0% APR Cards
For this category, APR weight becomes 50 points. We rank by: 0% intro period length (21 months > 15 months), balance transfer fee (3% beats 5%), and regular APR after intro.
Example: Wells Fargo Reflect® gets 95/100 for 0% APR because it offers 0% for up to 21 months with $0 fee.
